Mike Love is a retired chef and professional coffee roaster, and Alicia Love is a warm hearted counselor with a passion for helping others. Together that have created Coffee Labs Roasters, which is driven by a passion for the environment, sustainability, and ethically sourced high quality coffee. They both work tirelessly to bring you the best coffee the world has to offer.

Mike Love

mike-bioA retired chef of 15 years, Mike Love is originally from Southern Florida, were he schooled himself as executive sous chef at both Maxwell’s Chophouse and New York Prime in Boca Raton. He worked for Unique Restaurant Concepts for three years, where he focused on helping to open new restaurants.

He has since relocated to Westchester County, and has worked as sous-chef at Angelo and Maxie’s in mid-town Manhattan, Chef de Cuisine at Harry’s of Hartsdale Steakhouse and The Oyster Bar, and was Executive Chef at Umami Café. Mike Love is now co-owner of Coffee Labs Roasters in Tarrytown.  Mike currently is in charge of the roastery at Coffee Labs, which roasts coffee for retail and wholesale distribution.  In his time in the coffee industry, Mike has been a judge at many prestigious coffee tasting competitions, including Cup of Excellence, the Russian barista competition and the Rain Forest Alliance Cupping for quality.

He has won many awards for his roasting skills, including the 2007 Roast Master challenge, and is also a well decorated professional barista. He has currently won the Ultimate Barista Challenge 18 times. Mike has also taught coffee education classes at Westchester Community College in Ny. He is a charter member of Cup for Education, has been named an under 40 rising star by the Westchester business council.

Alicia Love

alicia-bioBorn and raised in Larchmont NY, Alicia Love worked in the restaurant industry for ten years and also earned a Masters in guidance and counseling. While earning her degree, she volunteered for organizations such as Global Volunteers, Visions Service Adventures, and  The Leukemia Society. Working with these organizations allowed her to see the world, where she traveled to Ireland, Costa Rica, Alaska and North Carolina.

She discovered her passion for coffee while working to build a community center in Costa Rica. She had the chance to pick coffee cherry and learn about the process of turning the cherry and the beans into what we know and love as a cup of coffee. Her interest in other cultures and their cuisine, and her strong desire to give back to the community have led her and her partner Mike Love to the creation of Coffee Labs.

Along with Mike, she founded Westchester Taste of Relief, one of Westchester’s largest fundraisers. A quarter of a million dollars was raised in a single evening for 9/11 victims by taste of relief, and was donated to the World Trade Relief Fund. Participation during that evening included thirty-one restaurants from New York City, Westchester, and Rockland Counties.  The event made it possible for residents to actively aid the victims families.

Alicia is the president of Coffee Labs Roasters Inc, and  focuses on making the cafe as green as possible, by working directly with the green restaurant association to improve the cafe’s already high rating of three stars.
