Yemen Abu Al-Wudiyyan
Six years ago, both of our Yemen coffees were brought out of war torn Yemen, and they have an incredible story. Andrew Nicolson and his associates at Rayyan Coffee went into Yemen, bought coffee for export, and then literally fled to international waters in a speed boat with it. There are coffee farmers in Yemen that need people to buy their crops and Rayyan Coffee has a passion for supporting the Yemeni coffee growing industry. They have continued to do so this year, even during a war. You can read more about their incredible adventure from last year in this article in The Village Voice called Magic Beans.
Yemen Al Wudiyyan is an heirloom varietal naturally processed coffee descended from the same coffee trees that were growing in the region centuries ago when coffee was first grown on the Arabian Peninsula. Andrew Nicholson, co-founder of Rayyan Coffee Mill, takes risks to source, mill, and export all of our Yemeni coffees. This makes available some of the world's finest and oldest coffee.
